A 6-year-old Jewish child in Billings, MT placed a Chanukah menorah in his bedroom window. When someone heaved a brick through that child’s window, the community rallied to support the little boy. Nearly 10,000 people placed menorahs in their own windows, sending a clear message: Billings would not tolerate hate.
We can all stand up with people who are targeted by bigotry and hate.
Amidah is a Hebrew word that means “standing up.” It refers to acts of unarmed spiritual resistance during the Holocaust.
Today, at a time of rising hate crimes and violence, individuals and governments must stand up in the spirit of Amidah to protect everyone, regardless of identity or status.
