The Chinese government has persecuted Tibetan Buddhists for over 60 years. Legislation currently pending in both the Senate and House of Representatives to support the Tibetan battle for independence and their human rights.

Legislative Action: The Free Tibet Act

The Free Tibet Act would recognize Tibet as an independent country, which has been a goal of people in the region since China’s brutal repression began in 1959.

Take these steps to support the passage of The Free Tibet Act

  1. Find out who your elected officials are at the federal level.

  1. Send an email urging your senators and your representative to vote in favor of the Free Tibet Act.

The Tibet Policy and Support Act gives the US legal grounds to sanction Chinese officials who interfere with the Tibetan Buddhists’ process for selecting their own leaders. The act offers a rebuke against China’s control over Tibet.

The House of Representatives has passed the Tibet Policy and Support Act. Follow the below steps to encourage the Senate to do the same and stand up for Tibetan rights.
