Blending memoir, history, and biography, My Father Against the Nazis chronicles Mayer’s decades-long journey to understand his father, Paul, a German Jewish refugee who escaped Nazi Germany.
Through readings, historical context, and conversation, Mayer will explore the experiences of German Jews under National Socialism, intergenerational trauma, the moral choices people face during periods of rising authoritarianism, and the importance of learning from history.
