Alice Musabende Outstanding Citizen Award

This award, to be given annually by World Without Genocide, recognizes one individual whose work in any or all of the following areas has been exceptional:

  • Education about genocide: the individual has reached out to the faith, civic, educational, and/or human rights communities to teach about genocide both past and present and to remember those whose lives and cultures have been destroyed by genocide;
  • Education to prevent genocide: the individual has worked to reduce xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and other forms of prejudice in our community and has inspired people to resist manipulation and stereotyping that create discrimination;
  • Education against genocide: the individual has worked with elected officials to enhance legislation that protects innocent civilians around the world and to advocate for the prosecution of perpetrators.

Applicants may be self-nominated or nominated by members of the Board or the community.  The Board of Directors of World Without Genocide, or a committee of the Board, will select the recipient.
