Thousands have already been killed. Over 1 million people have been internally displaced and 472,000 refugees have fled to neighboring countries. In 2016, the number of internally displaced people decreased to approximately 400,000. Millions of civilians lack access to adequate food, water, medical care, and shelter. Armed factions on all sides have committed crimes against humanity, including widespread murder, sexual violence, and the recruitment of child soldiers.
